Our Domestic Installer Package covers 3 modules and is suitable for persons/installers working within the electrical or related industries such as heating installers, bathroom and kitchen fitters, builders and domestic appliance fitters / installers. It is not designed to take a non-related person without any experience.
Module 1 - LCL Awards DEI2020 covering Part P of the Building Regulations (5 days)
The Domestic Electrical Installer course covers the underpinning knowledge and practical aspects of planning, installing, fault finding and commissioning of domestic electrical installations. The areas covered are as follows:
Electrical Safety legislation, Regulations Standards and Terminology
Applicable Building Regulations for Domestic Electrical Installations
Domestic Electrical Circuit Design Specifications
Domestic Electrical Installation Pre-Work Survey/Risk Assessments
Installing Domestic Electrical Circuits
Domestic Electrical Earthing and Bonding Requirements
Identification of Mains Position Components and Protective Devices
Safe Isolation Procedures
Inspecting, Testing and Commissioning Single Phase Domestic Electrical Circuits
Special Locations and Installations
Identification of Unsafe Domestic Electrical Situations
Recording of Electrical Test Results, Completion of Certification and Notification Requirements
Basic Understanding of 3 Phase Supplies.
The course is a mix of workshop based assessments and an open book multiple choice exam.
Module 2 - City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (3 days)
This qualification gives you the necessary skills and confidence to inspect and test electrical installations and conduct initial verification - a qualification that proves your ability. This course also ensures that learners can professionally install and carry out initial verification on electrical installations. You are able to verify and test any new installation installed by yourself or under your supervision.
After completing this qualification and gaining practical experience you can also progress to the 2391-52 Level 3 Combined Inspection & Testing qualification which enables you to test and certify both new and existing installations and also covers Three phase.
The course has 1 practical assessment and a multiple choice exam.
Module 3 - City & Guilds 2382-18 Level 3 BS7671 Wiring Regulations (2 days)
Every operative working on voltages up to 1000V AC are required to work competently to the BS7671 Wiring Regulations. The 2382-18 City and Guilds qualification ensures learners have sufficient knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring regulations, how to use and access the book and apply the regulations to the real world.
This is a classroom taught course and has 1 open book multiple choice exam.
