City & Guilds 2391-50 Initial Inspection and Testing Qualification

With very recent changes by City & Guilds with their full Initial and Periodic Inspection & Testing qualifications, Training in Electrical is now pleased to offer this brand new version, the 2391-50. This new award now replaces the 2394 qualification in Initial Verification Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations It can be achieved on a 3-day course covering the initial inspection and testing of all single and three phase electrical systems for domestic, commercial and Industrial installations.

This brand new qualification has undergone a complete redevelopment by City & Guilds, and candidates are now required to complete only 1x on-line open book multiple choice assessment, 1x practical assessment and a small written question paper. All of which are now open book and includes the use of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, On-site Guide and Guidance Note 3 during the on-line assessment. With candidates only having to now achieve these 3x assessments to gain their City & Guilds Initial Verification will certainly make this new course very desirable and more achievable.

This award is ideal for experience and newly qualified persons, as there is now no entry requirement to enrol onto this course, however, candidates will be assessed individually on their capability prior to acceptance onto the course.

It is worth noting that the new 2391 qualification can be studied individually with us as either Initial verification only (2391-50) or Periodic Condition reporting (2391-51), however both must be achieved for JIB grading as an Approved Electrician.
This course is designed to give you the understanding of the principles, practices and legislation for the initial verification of new electrical works complying with BS7671for all types of single and 3 phase electrical installations, and allowing you to issues electrical test certificates. 

Its content covers the skills and necessary background knowledge for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrical installations.

This electrical course includes both theory and more importantly hands on experience testing real life installations at our training centre. You will have the opportunity to use a variety of the latest testers kindly supplied by our test instrument sponsors, Megger, Fluke and Dilog.

The course content covers the following areas:

• Introduction to Inspection and Testing 
• Requirements for initial verification
• Guidance Note 3
• Pre-work survey
• Safe use of test equipment
• Complying with BS7671 wiring regulations
• Safe isolation procedures
• Order of tests
• Continuity of protective conductors
• Insulation resistance tests
• Polarity tests
• Earth electrode tests
• Earth fault loop impedance tests
• RCD testing
• Recording and completion of test results
• Commissioning of electrical installations
• Practical Hands on skills
• Exam preparation

At the end of the course candidates are expected to complete only one multiple choice; a small written exercise and a practical examination with results being supplied prior to leaving the centre. You will have then achieved the knowledge and practical skills to safely undertake inspection and testing work in both domestic, commercial and industrial premises.
